Bob and Ruth invited us to spend a few days at the lake house they rented on Lake Gaston.
They have a permanent campsite there but because the entire crew, including the Texas cousins were going to be in town they rented a house so we could all hang out together.
It was beautiful!
From the house
and
From the Lake
The kids woke up early and took turns on the boat
and the Jet Ski
They spent hours jumping off the dock and into the lake.....
and I do mean HOURS!
They are all water bugs!
Pretty Girl
Uncle Ryan!!!
What a happy boat load of people!
SMILES all around!
We spent Wednesday morning out on the boat.
Some of us napped....since we stayed up way to late playing with our cousins.
While others swam in the lake
After Lunch we headed over to the campground for a Fourth of July Beach Party!
The campground had tables set up for the kids to make jewelry
They made necklaces and bracelets
They also got to slip and slide
and they of course had FOOD!
As we relaxed and watched the children splash around in the lake we noticed a familiar boat off shore.
THE HESTER'S!!!!
Randy went swimming out to say hello to his boss man :)
It was so funny....the boat looked really far off shore and so I was concerned about Randy making the swim....
We all had a good laugh when Randy reached the boat and stood up!
The Hester's to the family for a boat ride.
It was a good time!
We did have to cut it short because it started to storm over the lake so we all headed for shelter.
It sure was fun to see the Hester's though!
The sun didn't hide for long....
We had plenty of time left for lots of tubing!
I even got in on the action.
It was FUN!
We had some dare devils!
Look No Hands!
It was so nice to see our cousins from Texas!
Wish we got to see them more!
Pepaw was our fearless captain!
He showed us a cool little island in the middle of the lake known as
Goat Island
I bet you can figure out why!
There are 3 goats and they are so tame.
The kids loved petting and feeding the goats.
The kids came in to eat and that was just about it!
We had a fantastic time.
Thank you Grammy and Pepaw!
A few quotes from the weekend that I want to remember:
8 year old Geer says to Sophie, "If you weren't my cousin would you be my girlfriend?"
She replied..."ummmm.....SURE."
It was very cute!
The kids all ended up with Piggly Wiggly T-shirts....don't ask....it's a long story...
But anyway...
Jackson was very concerned and asked Grandma Halsey, who will be 90 this year, if she got one. When she said no he asked her if she wanted one and if she was sad. She assured him she was fine not having a Piggly Wiggly T-shirt. It tickled Grandma and me that he was thinking about someone else!
Doesn't happen much....but such a blessing when it does!
Hope you had a wonderful Fouth of July!
